The Elementary School Division is currently looking for a full-time ES Library Assistant. If you know of anyone outside of Lincoln who may be interested, please feel free to share this message with them.
The position requires:
Education: Bachelor Degree, preferable with Library certification or experience
Languages: High English fluency and Spanish fluency
Preferred Experience: 2+ years experience working working with children ages 4-11
Additional Information:
The Library Assistant’s responsibilities involve helping with the efficient operation of the library and supporting library patrons. Effective and positive interpersonal skills are a must. Duties may include but are not limited to those listed below:
Use the online library management system to perform daily circulation operations
Provide basic assistance to patrons (students, faculty, staff and parents) who need help using the library catalog and library online/print resources
Maintain a welcoming and respectful library environment with the ability to enforce library behavior expectations
Support the librarian with compiling resources from both the English and Spanish collections
Use effective interpersonal skills to develop positive relationships with all library patrons; Have a “customer service” attitude.
Ability to work independently
Must be flexible in a busy environment with children
Keep shelves in order by shelf reading with alphabetical order and decimals
Shelving of materials
Process library materials as needed
Perform inventory
Support library instruction and special events
Create library displays
When necessary, cover in an academic course using provided materials
Work hours: 7:45 AM-4:15 PM Monday through Friday with opportunities for overtime on Saturdays twice a month.
Timeframe: Starting August or September 2023
